Oman and the Philippines have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key economic sectors.
The two countries discussed cooperation during a meeting between Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister and Maria Teresa Lazaro, Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the third edition of the Oman-Philippines Forum in Manila, where the two ministers reviewed the growing friendship between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of the Philippines and explored opportunities to deepen their partnership in areas of mutual interest.
Both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, logistics, tourism, energy, and technology, with the aim of advancing the shared economic interests of both countries and supporting sustainable and inclusive development.
The ministers highlighted the Oman-Philippines Forum as an important strategic platform for institutional dialogue, noting its role in creating new opportunities for collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and academic institutions. They said the forum would continue to facilitate partnerships that contribute to long-term economic growth and innovation.
The two countries also welcomed the steady progress in bilateral relations, emphasizing that mutual trust and strong people-to-people ties have laid a solid foundation for closer cooperation. They acknowledged the significant contribution of the Filipino community in Oman, describing it as a key pillar in further strengthening relations between the two nations.
Regional and international developments also featured prominently in the discussions. The ministers exchanged views on regional and international developments and discussed diplomatic efforts to promote peace, security, and stability.
They also stressed the importance of ensuring safe navigation and the uninterrupted flow of maritime trade and global supply chains.
The meeting was also attended by Engineer Nasser bin Saeed Al-Manwari, Oman’s ambassador to the Philippines, along with senior officials from both countries.
