Muscat: The Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has convened to discuss proposals aimed at enhancing the services of the ‘Estidamah’ platform, as part of ongoing efforts to support and empower Omani entrepreneurs.
The meeting, held at the Chamber’s headquarters in Muscat, was chaired by Sheikh Ahmed Amer Al Maslahi, Chairman of the Committee. Discussions focused on advancing the platform’s capabilities and expanding its reach while maintaining its core objective of serving entrepreneurs managing their own businesses.
During the session, committee members reviewed the current progress of the Estidamah platform, including initiatives to attract specialized offers and benefits tailored for platform users.
Emphasis was placed on streamlining and accelerating project registration procedures to improve accessibility and user experience. The committee also explored setting defined timeframes to attract the maximum number of projects during Estidamah’s initial launch phase.
In addition, participants examined a proposal to broaden Estidamah’s user base to include a wider segment of beneficiaries, while reiterating the importance of preserving its primary mission of supporting Omani entrepreneurs.
On a related note, the committee’s task force for regulating recruitment offices held a separate meeting to address key challenges facing the sector. The team reviewed a dedicated platform designed to organize the operations of recruitment offices, focusing on its mechanisms and potential to regulate the recruitment of expatriate labor more effectively, enhance efficiency, and mitigate associated challenges.
The meeting also discussed opportunities to strengthen the participation of local institutions in projects linked to In-Country Value (ICV), as part of broader efforts to boost national economic contributions.
