One Plus 9 series from the namesake Chinese smartphone manufacturer is one of the most highly anticipated smartphone launches. So much so that almost every part of the phone has been the subject of rumors and leaks at some stage.
OnePlus recently revealed its partnership with Hasselblad, a Swedish camera manufacturer, and while confirming that the 9 series, which is expected to include the OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, and a rumored 9E, will eventually launch on March 23.
Here’s all we know about the OnePlus 9 series so far, including the camera, specifications, and more, ahead of its launch.
OnePlus 9 expected specifications
The vanilla OnePlus 9 is expected to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset along with 8GB and 12GB of RAM. We might also see a variant with 12GB and 256GB of internal storage.
The phone is also expected to sport an FHD+ 6.55-inch AMOLED display panel with support for a 120Hz refresh rate.
So far, there isn’t much knowledge about the camera setup of the OnePlus 9 in its stock form. However, unlike the Pro version, which is supposed to have four cameras, many expect the phone to have a triple camera setup. A 48MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and an unspecified macro sensor could make up the triple camera configuration.
A 16MP front camera is also expected on the handset. A stereo speaker setup, 4,500mAh battery, 65W charging, and a type-C USB 3.1 port could all be included in the OnePlus 9.
Expected specifications for OnePlus 9 Pro
The OnePlus 9 Pro will be the most expensive of the lot. A 6.7-inch QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate is planned, as well as a punch-hole cut out for the selfie camera. We’re expecting to see the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset with at least 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in the phone which will support 5G.
Multiple photos have shown a quad-camera configuration for the camera, with the main sensor, an ultra-wide sensor, a telephoto sensor, and a macro sensor. Mr. Pete Lau the company’s Chief Executive Officer, recently pointed out that the phone would have a 50MP ultra-wide sensor. A 48MP main sensor, likely with Hasselblad optics is expected to be included, as well as an 8MP telephoto sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies and video calls, a 16MP front camera is expected.
Rumors have also pointed the OnePlus 9 Pro will have a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging. The OnePlus 9 Pro, like the OnePlus 8 Pro, could include wireless charging at 30W and reverse wireless charging.
OnePlus 9e or 9R or 9 Lite expected specifications
The OnePlus 9e, which could also be known as the 9R or 9 lite, is a recent addition that is expected to be a more affordable version of the two flagship phones. It is expected to have a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. According to reports, the phone will be powered by the 5G-enabled Snapdragon 690 chipset. The OnePlus 9e may also include an 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option for this variant.
The OnePlus 9e’s camera setup is currently unknown. Although Hasselblad lenses are unlikely to appear on this phone, we can expect a competitive camera system. There is no concrete information on other components such as the battery or charging power. However, when we get closer to a launch date, expect more updates from OnePlus.
