Qatar Chamber explores ways to boost cooperation with Iran

Qatar Chamber (QC) and Iran have discussed ways to enhance cooperation between both sides for the benefit of the private sectors of Qatar and Yazd Province.

Qatar Chamber board member Mr. Nasser bin Sulaiman Al-Haider held a meeting with Mr. Ahmedi Akhondi, Deputy Adviser for Economic Affairs in the Iranian Yazd Province, in the presence of Qatar Chamber deputy general manager Mr. Ali Bu Sharbak al-Mansouri.

During the meeting, Mr. Al-Haider said Qatari businessmen are interested in learning about the potential investment opportunities available in the Yazd Governorate, particularly in several economic sectors.

Further, he said that trade exchange between both countries is currently below the aspirations of both sides and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to enhance cooperation among businessmen from both countries.

Mr. Al-Haider emphasized that “Qatar Chamber encourages the strengthening of economic cooperation with the Iranian private sector. He noted that the chamber is eager to strengthen ties with Iran and organize the visit of a business delegation to Yazd and explore the available investment climate and opportunities.”

For his part, Mr. Akhondi said that “the purpose of the visit is to explore key sectors for potential cooperation with Qatar, pointing out that Qatari businessmen are welcome to invest in sectors across the Yazd Governorate, including the tourism, agriculture, textile, and glass industries.” The Deputy Adviser also expressed the governorate’s desire to enhance cooperation with the Qatari private sector by coordinating with the Qatar Chamber.
