The General Authority of Customs (Qatar Customs) and Qatar Aviation Services (QAS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in customs clearance for personal imports arriving via air freight.

The agreement signed by Ahmed Youssef Al Sahl, Assistant President for Customs Ports Affairs at the General Authority of Customs, and Mark Anthony Drusch, Head of Air Cargo at Qatar Aviation Services, focuses on improving service quality, accelerating clearance procedures, and strengthening logistics efficiency.

The MoU establishes a framework for joint coordination in executing customs clearance processes for personal shipments.

It is designed to ensure faster release of consignments, streamline operational procedures, and improve overall service delivery for individuals importing goods through air cargo channels.

Under the terms of the agreement, Qatar Aviation Services will handle customs clearance operations in line with approved regulatory standards.

The collaboration also emphasizes compliance with customs laws, adherence to principles of transparency in pricing, and commitment to fair competition without monopolization of services. Both parties will also exchange relevant operational data through integrated electronic systems to support efficiency and accuracy in processing.

Ahmed Youssef Al Sahl underscored the General Authority of Customs’ ongoing efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance the customs ecosystem.

Al Sahl highlighted that the authority focuses on developing advanced digital services, improving transaction speed, and reinforcing its role in supporting national economic growth and facilitating international trade.

Mark Anthony Drusch noted that the agreement reflects a shared commitment to improving coordination across the logistics and air cargo sector.

Drusch said that the initiative would contribute to higher service standards and better customer experience by reducing clearance time and improving operational integration.

The MoU also includes provisions for joint monitoring of customs clearance procedures, periodic performance evaluations, and the submission of reports aimed at continuous service improvement and more informed decision-making across both entities.
