The Qatar General Tax Authority (GTA) has launched the nationally recognized Certified Tax Specialist Program to develop national talent and enhance professional capabilities across Qatar’s tax sector.
GTA stated that the program is designed to strengthen knowledge and skills in major areas of taxation, including income tax, value-added tax (VAT), and excise tax, in line with internationally accepted standards and best practices.
Building advanced tax capabilities
The program will be delivered through intensive in-person training sessions that combine technical instruction with practical application.
Participants will complete a supervised electronic examination at the end of the course to assess their understanding of the material and their professional competencies.
The curriculum covers specialized tax topics, including tax fundamentals, tax compliance frameworks, global tax developments, tax reporting, and transfer pricing. It also includes practical applications to help participants apply their knowledge in professional tax-related roles.
According to the GTA, the program has been developed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of taxation principles and regulatory requirements.
The Certified Tax Specialist Program is internationally accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). This enhances the value of the certification and contributes to strengthening the capabilities and competitiveness of national talent working in the tax sector.
Supporting tax sector development
The program forms part of the General Tax Authority’s ongoing efforts to develop national competencies and support the long-term sustainability of Qatar’s tax sector.
The initiative also supports the certification of tax professionals in accordance with GTA regulations, contributing to greater transparency and efficiency across the tax sector.
The program will be introduced in stages, beginning with employees of the General Tax Authority before being extended to tax professionals.
The Authority will also coordinate with local training centers to promote tax knowledge and awareness among specialists and relevant entities.
