Qatar, Oman explore ways to enhance economic cooperation

The Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani has met with the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman, HE Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, who is currently visiting Doha heading a delegation from his country.

The meeting, attended by senior officials from both sides, served as a platform to review the expanding economic relations between the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman. Discussions focused on advancing collaboration in trade, investment, and industry in ways that serve mutual interests and contribute to economic development at both the bilateral and regional Gulf levels.

The Qatari Minister of Commerce and Industry emphasized that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries has witnessed significant and sustained growth, recording an impressive increase of 17.5 percent.

The figures rose from approximately $1.4 billion in 2023 to surpass $1.7 billion in 2024, reflecting the positive trajectory of bilateral economic relations. He further highlighted that this growth is a clear indication of the strengthening partnership and mutual confidence between the two nations’ business sectors, as well as the effectiveness of the collaborative frameworks already in place.

The Minister stressed that both nations aim to strengthen cooperation and build on existing progress to forge a more diverse partnership. He highlighted opportunities in energy, trade, technology, logistics, and infrastructure, noting that closer collaboration will boost bilateral ties, support sustainable development, and open new avenues for investment and shared prosperity.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of shared interest, stressing the value of continued coordination and mutual visits between relevant entities in the two brotherly nations. They noted that such efforts would help build sustainable strategic partnerships, open new horizons for economic and investment collaboration, and further reflect the depth of their cooperation.
