The 21st session of the Saudi-German Joint Commission on Economic and Technical Cooperation has convened in Riyadh, bringing together senior officials from both countries to strengthen economic ties, advance technical collaboration, and explore opportunities in energy, industry, and innovation.
The Saudi-German Joint Commission was co-chaired by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, and Katharina Reiche, Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, with the participation of government officials from both countries.
The session builds on the efforts of the Saudi-German Joint Commission to strengthen the strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Germany and advance economic and technical cooperation, particularly in the energy sector. Discussions covered cooperation across industry, energy, and investment, as well as opportunities in renewable energy, hydrogen, technology, and healthcare.
On the sidelines of Saudi-German Joint Commission, the Saudi-German Business Council has also took place, during which a memorandum of understanding was signed to establish a framework for cooperation between both sides across various energy fields.
Several agreements and memoranda of understanding were also signed between public and private sector entities from both countries, highlighting the depth of bilateral economic ties and the role of the private sector in supporting joint initiatives.
A high-level roundtable on energy was also held with leading energy companies from both Saudi Arabia and Germany to review potential investment opportunities, foster collaboration, and further strengthen partnerships across the energy sector.

The German delegation visited King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) with Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy and Chairman of KAUST’s Board of Trustees.
On the sidelines of the Saudi-German Innovation Summit, Minister Reiche and the delegation reviewed KAUST’s contributions to research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Both ministers also witnessed the signing of several memoranda of understanding to boost Saudi-German startup collaboration, support early-stage companies, and facilitate the transition from research to market.
The visit highlights Saudi Arabia and Germany’s shared commitment to strengthening economic and technical cooperation and expanding their partnership in support of mutual interests and sustainable development.
