Saudi Arabia’s digital enabler, stc Group has announced record-breaking growth in digital and communication service usage at the two holy mosques during the mid-Ramadan peak.
Network indicators reveal a 21 percent increase in data traffic at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and a 40 percent surge at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, with 5G technology carrying nearly half of all internet traffic in both locations.
To meet the growing demand, the group upgraded more than 600 towers in Makkah and 470 in Madinah, enhancing operational efficiency for millions of worshippers and achieving a 10 percent increase in international roaming customers.
