The sixth edition of the business training initiative named ‘Tamkeen’ has kicked off at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) branch in Al Buraimi Governorate, aiming to strengthen the capabilities and competitiveness of small and medium enterprises in the Sultanate of Oman.

Tamkeen initiative, which focuses on the empowerment of small and medium enterprises, forms part of a comprehensive training program designed to raise the preparedness of SMEs, strengthen their technical and administrative capabilities, and enhance their ability to effectively compete for government tenders and development projects.

More than 30 SME owners have participated in the Tamkeen program, which is being implemented by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the ‘Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit’, the ‘Authority for Projects, Tenders and Local Content’, and the ‘SMEs Development Authority’ (Riyada).

The ‘Tamkeen’ initiative supports small and medium enterprises in Oman through a range of practical measures, including helping participants register on the ‘Esnad’ platform, Oman’s national electronic system for managing government tenders and procurement, and guiding them on how to navigate tender requirements effectively.

This strategic initiative also focuses on building the technical and commercial skills of SME owners in the country, enabling them to prepare high quality, competitive bids and strengthening the ability of local enterprises to participate successfully in government and development projects.

The ‘Tamkeen’ initiative forms part of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s broader commitment to empowering enterprises, enhancing their capabilities, and expanding their role in supporting the objectives of ‘Oman Vision 2040’, particularly in driving economic diversification and sustainable growth.
