The Pavilion of Majid Al Futtaim Communities, a subsidiary of UAE-based Majid Al Futtaim Properties, at Tilal Al Ghaf Sales & Experience Centre, has won the Regional Award in Asia category at the BREEAM Awards 2022 held in London.
Located at the heart of the community on the banks of Lagoon Al Ghaf, the Pavilion design features a floating curved roof that works as a striking visual statement.
The building is aesthetically pleasing and uses biophilic design principles to ensure harmony with the local environment and promote an effortless flow between outdoors and indoors. Cementing the connection with and celebrating the authentic character of the surrounding landscape.
It embodies the unique lifestyle proposition offered by the wider Tilal Al Ghaf community, Majid Al Futtaim Communities’ flagship destination in Dubai.
The Pavilion, which is currently used as a sales and experience center, will be transformed into a vibrant hub where residents and tourists can enjoy a year-round calendar of exciting arts, cultural, and social events.
This category had a very diverse shortlist, both in terms of building use and location. The panel of judges decided on a project that both achieves zero energy now but also considered the future reuse of the building to ensure lower lifetime impacts.
The excellent BREEAM rating for ‘the region’s first Zero Positive Building’ underscored Majid Al Futtaim Communities’ commitment to sustainable living. The Pavilion at Tilal Al Ghaf – Sales and Experience Centre has received numerous accolades and accreditations including WELL ILFI Zero Energy certification, and the MENA Green Building Awards – Zero Building of the Year 2019.
