True Nexus and Pasqal have signed a strategic collaboration to explore the use of quantum computing in the development of next-generation food protein functionalities.

This collaboration marks a first-of-its-kind initiative globally: the application of neutral-atom quantum computing capabilities to accelerate the understanding, prediction, and design of protein functionalities used in food systems.

Through this partnership, True Nexus will leverage Pasqal’s advanced quantum computing technology to explore new approaches for modeling complex protein behavior, enabling faster and more precise development of functional ingredients for the food industry.

The initiative reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ambition to position itself at the forefront of frontier technologies, including artificial intelligence and quantum computing, and to apply these capabilities to strategic sectors such as food innovation and sustainable protein development.

The signing ceremony was attended by MCIT Deputy Minister for technology Mohammed Al Robayan, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to fostering deep-tech collaborations and supporting companies building breakthrough technologies from within the Kingdom.

True Nexus and Pasqal lead Saudi’s efforts in sustainable protein development

By building advanced Saudi capabilities in food-protein design, this initiative directly supports the Kingdom’s food sovereignty ambitions while accelerating the localization of high-value biotechnology and biomanufacturing. It aligns with the National Biotechnology Strategy’s 2040 vision to position biotechnology as a major non-oil economic growth sector, while strengthening innovation, resilience, and self-sufficiency in future food systems.

By bringing together quantum computing and computational intelligence applied to food systems, the True Nexus-Pasqal collaboration represents an important step toward enabling more efficient and scalable development of next-generation protein ingredients.
