The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in Beijing has hosted a UAE-China media dialogue reception, aiming to strengthen cultural and press cooperation, coinciding with the opening of the Beijing International Book Fair.
The event, held at the UAE’s ‘Al Bait Al Emarati’ (The Emirati House) pavilion, brought together representatives from Emirati and Chinese media organizations and regulatory bodies.
The UAE is serving as the Guest of Honor at this year’s edition of the Beijing International Book Fair, which is recognized as the world’s second-largest book fair.
Eman ben Humaid, Head of Public Diplomacy Sector at the UAE Embassy, stated that the bilateral relations were entering a new phase under a comprehensive strategic partnership, with media playing a key role.
ben Humaid added that the sector has become an important tool for promoting understanding between peoples and cultures, and strengthening partnerships would help highlight the development experiences of both countries.
Key objectives of media dialogue discussions
The discussions mainly focused on strengthening institutional and professional cooperation between UAE and Chinese stakeholders in the sector. They aimed to deepen mutual understanding, build trust, and establish structured mechanisms for long-term collaboration.
- Introduce the regulatory frameworks, norms, and policies governing the UAE media industry to enhance mutual understanding and institutional trust
- Establish counterpart liaison mechanisms to support future collaboration, including joint reporting initiatives, journalist exchanges, and co-creation of media content
- Provide Chinese media representatives with a detailed understanding of the UAE’s participation as Guest of Honour at the Book Fair, including related engagement arrangements and cultural programming.
