The UAE and Cyprus have explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across economic, investment, technology, renewable energy, tourism, and development sectors.

The discussions took place during a meeting between UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and HE Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, during the Cypriot President’s working visit to the UAE.

The two sides reviewed opportunities to advance cooperation under the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the UAE and Cyprus, with a focus on sectors that support economic diversification, sustainable development, and long-term investment growth in both countries.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation in areas that contribute to shared economic and development objectives.

Discussions also covered collaboration in education, culture, and innovation, in addition to broader trade and commercial partnerships between the two countries.

The meeting also addressed Cyprus’ current presidency of the Council of the European Union and its role in supporting relations between the UAE and the European Union.

The two sides discussed the importance of continued coordination to strengthen UAE-EU cooperation across economic, technological, and strategic sectors.

Regional developments and their implications for international security and stability were also reviewed during the meeting, particularly the latest developments in the Middle East and their impact on regional security.

President Christodoulides reiterated Cyprus’ condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in the UAE and other countries in the region.

The Cypriot president stated that such attacks violate sovereignty, international law, and the Charter of the United Nations while also posing risks to regional stability and international security.

The meeting was attended by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, and a number of ministers and officials.

The visit reflects ongoing efforts by the UAE and Cyprus to strengthen cooperation across strategic sectors while maintaining dialogue on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
