The United Arab Emirates and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to establish a Joint Consular Committee.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The MoU was signed on behalf of the UAE by HE Faisal Eissa Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while HE Ambassador Majed Thalji Al Qatarneh, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the UAE, signed on behalf of the Jordanian Government.
The UAE-Jordan MoU reflects the deep-rooted fraternal relations and longstanding strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
According to the statement, it also underscores the shared commitment of both countries to further strengthening bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors, with particular emphasis on enhancing collaboration in consular affairs, promoting the exchange of expertise and best practices, and improving the delivery of services for the benefit of their citizens.
Furthermore, the MoU aims to deepen cooperation in consular affairs by fostering closer coordination, facilitating the exchange of expertise and best practices, advancing the development of consular work, and enhancing the quality, efficiency, and responsiveness of consular services provided to the citizens of both brotherly countries.
The signing ceremony was attended by a number of officials from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as HE Omar Al Atoum, Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
