Bahrain’s BENEFIT to power up India’s RuPay at ATMs across the Kingdom

BENEFIT, Bahrain’s leading firm in Fintech and electronic financial transactions service, has partnered with NPCI International Payments Ltd. (NIPL), the global arm of National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) to enable RuPay acceptance at ATMs and Point of Sale (PoS) terminals across the kingdom.

RuPay is India’s first unique Global Card payment network, conceived and operated by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It enables consumers to securely use their phones to make card payments without disclosing their sensitive card details.

It is an exceptional self-reliant card payments network with innovative features that have made it a successful interoperable card, with over 635 million cards issued to date. RuPay is also constantly innovating through disruptive use-cases such as contactless payments via near-field communication (NFC) and other emerging payment technologies such as wearables, tokenization, and so on.

The Partnership between National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), an umbrella organization for all retail payment systems in India, and BENEFIT, a key conduit for all electronic financial transactions throughout Bahrain, will enable Indian travelers to transact via their RuPay cards across 515 ATMs and 40K Point of Sale (PoS) terminals in Bahrain.

BENEFIT will work with its Member Acquirers to ensure that all of NPCI’s Issuer Identification Numbers (IINs) are enabled on all of the network’s card acceptance channels with the support of the Central Bank of Bahrain.
