UAE-based advanced technology and defence group EDGE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Basilicata region to explore opportunities for industrial collaboration, knowledge exchange, innovation, and talent development, further strengthening its presence in Italy.
The agreement was signed during an official EDGE delegation visit to Costruzioni Motori Diesel (CMD) in Atella, where the company has agreed to acquire a controlling stake in the Italian propulsion company.
The move underscores the UAE group’s strategy of expanding international partnerships and strengthening industrial capabilities across key global markets.
The MoU was formalized by Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, and Vito Bardi, President of Basilicata. The signing ceremony was attended by Abdulla Ali Al Subousi, UAE Ambassador to Italy, Giuseppe Telesca, Mayor of Atella, and Francesco Somma, President of Confindustria Basilicata.
Supporting EDGE’s international growth strategy
The visit reflects the company’s broader approach to international expansion, which focuses not only on strategic investments and acquisitions but also on building partnerships across industrial, governmental, and academic sectors in the regions where it operates.
The agreement will serve as a framework for identifying future opportunities that enhance industrial capabilities, promote knowledge sharing, and accelerate innovation between the two sides.
Strengthening regional industrial ecosystems
EDGE said the partnership aligns with its open ecosystem model, which emphasizes long-term collaboration and the development of sustainable industrial networks. Through the MoU, both parties will explore initiatives that support workforce development, technological advancement, and regional economic growth.
The agreement also highlights the growing cooperation between the UAE and Italy in advanced manufacturing and industrial technology, while reinforcing its commitment to creating lasting partnerships that contribute to innovation-driven development.
The visit to Basilicata and the signing of the MoU mark another step in the company’s efforts to expand its international footprint and deepen engagement with regional stakeholders as it continues to build a global network of industrial and technology partnerships.
