Bahrain-based global asset manager company Investcorp has acquired leading global digital communications agency Investis Digital for an undisclosed amount from the UK’s private equity investor ECI Partners and a group of minority investors.

Investcorp stated that the deal is “indicative of the significant market opportunity associated with digital communications” as companies become more aware of the benefits of using such specialized services for their stakeholder communication.

Mr. Tarek AlMahjoub, Head of UAE and Oman for Investcorp’s Private Wealth pointed out “We believe that the company is well-positioned for growth as the need for full-service digital communication providers continue to increase especially because of the pandemic.”

According to Germany-based market and consumer data analyst and reporter Statista, the public relations industry is projected to rise at a 9.9 percent compound annual growth rate to $93 billion by 2022, up from $63.8 billion in 2018. Investis Digital has nine offices in the US, the UK, the European Union, and India, and has collaborated with brands including Ascential, Anglo American, Fruit of the Loom, Rolls-Royce, and Vodafone.

Investcorp’s other investments include Vivaticket, a ticketing services provider, Cambio, a Nordic provider of eHealth solutions, ABAX, one of Europe’s largest telematics solutions providers, and Securelink, a cybersecurity firm. Along with Investcorp, Investis Digital’s management team acquired “a meaningful stake” in the company and will continue to be actively involved.

Following the outbreak of the pandemic, Investcorp, which reported a 33 percent rise in the first-half net profit last month, has increased its portfolio. The company has expanded its investments in technology and healthcare, as well as diversifying its investment geographies.
