Bahrain-based Investcorp, a global alternative investment firm, has launched a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Investment Framework that will be applied across its investment activities in private equity, real assets, and credit.
The framework, detailed in a newly released report, outlines the firm’s approach to assessing and capturing opportunities arising from the growing adoption of AI across industries and markets.
The framework forms part of Investcorp’s broader strategy to integrate AI considerations into investment decision-making, portfolio construction, and value creation initiatives.
The firm views AI as a major technological and economic development that is influencing productivity, business models, and competitive dynamics across sectors.
According to the report, the framework is designed to evaluate AI’s impact across different asset classes, business models, and capital structures.
Investcorp’s approach focuses on identifying opportunities where AI can support operational improvements, efficiency gains, and long-term value creation while maintaining disciplined investment processes and risk management practices.
A key feature of the framework is its emphasis on selectivity and resilience. Across its investment platform, Investcorp aims to prioritize businesses and assets that are operationally resilient, supported by strong data capabilities and positioned to benefit from AI-driven productivity and scalability improvements.
Mohammed Alardhi Executive Chairman Investcorp
“Artificial intelligence represents a fundamental shift in how value is created across the global economy. For private markets, this is not simply about adopting new technologies but about applying them with discipline and intent. As a global alternative investment firm, we believe that a selective, cross-platform approach enables investors to capture the opportunities AI presents while continuing to prioritize resilience and long-term performance.”
Rishi Kapoor, Vice Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Investcorp, added that, “At Investcorp, we are embedding AI across our investment platform, from sourcing and diligence through to portfolio management and value creation. This framework reflects our belief that AI is not a standalone strategy but a powerful lens through which we assess opportunities, manage risk, and enhance performance.”
The report also outlines practical applications of AI within Investcorp’s own operations and across its portfolio companies. These include the use of AI-enabled tools to support research, accelerate due diligence processes, improve investment committee workflows, and strengthen portfolio monitoring capabilities.
In addition, the framework highlights opportunities for portfolio companies to deploy data-driven and AI-powered solutions to improve operational efficiency, support business growth, and enhance decision-making.
