EDGE and Naval Group have signed an agreement at Eurosatory 2026 to conduct firing trials of the SKYKNIGHT air defense missile using Naval Group’s Rampart launcher system, advancing cooperation on integrated naval air defense capabilities.
The agreement, signed between Naval Group and HALCON, EDGE Group’s smart weapons arm, marks the next phase of collaboration between the two companies and will assess the integration of the SKYKNIGHT missile with the Rampart system. The initiative aims to expand air defense options for naval operators facing increasingly complex and evolving aerial threats, including modern unmanned systems and high-speed aerial targets.
The SKYKNIGHT trials will be conducted in the UAE between 2026 and 2027, beginning with an initial land-based testing phase to validate core system performance, before progressively moving to advanced maritime demonstrations designed to assess real-world naval operational conditions.
The program will combine Naval Group’s expertise in naval combat systems integration, platform architecture and advanced weapon launch technologies with HALCON’s missile design, development and precision manufacturing capabilities to evaluate end-to-end operational performance, system compatibility and battlefield effectiveness in a fully integrated naval environment.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to delivering flexible and cost-effective defense solutions. By integrating the SKYKNIGHT short-range air defense missile with the modular Rampart launch architecture, the companies aim to enhance mission readiness, operational flexibility and protection against increasingly complex airborne threats.
