Etihad Rail has completed the Fujairah Passenger Station, marking the company’s first passenger station development ahead of the planned gradual launch of passenger rail operations later this year.
The station is located in the Madinat Al Hilal area of Fujairah and spans approximately 51,900 square meters. It forms part of the national passenger rail network being developed to connect major cities across the UAE.
According to Adhraa Al Mansoori, Executive Director of Commercial at Etihad Rail, the station holds a strategic location within the emirate, with close proximity to key urban and tourism destinations.
Al Mansoori noted that the facility is around 12 minutes from Fujairah International Airport, six minutes from Umbrella Beach Corniche, and five minutes from Sakamkam Fort.
Adhraa Al Mansoori stated that the station is expected to contribute to long-term economic development by improving passenger mobility and enhancing access to Fujairah.
The upcoming passenger rail services linking Fujairah with Dubai and Abu Dhabi are also expected to support increased economic activity and create new investment opportunities across multiple sectors.
Travel time between Fujairah and Abu Dhabi is expected to be approximately 105 minutes, with trains operating at speeds of up to 200 km/h and accommodating up to 400 passengers per journey.
Al Mansoori added that around 70 percent of materials used in the development of the national railway network were sourced locally through 97 domestic suppliers, reflecting strong local industry participation in the project.
The first phase of operations will include the launch of three main routes connecting Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah. Timetables and service schedules will be announced closer to the official start of operations through relevant channels.
The passenger experience will include retail outlets, a VIP lounge, high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity, and onboard dining services. Stations will also feature modern passenger facilities, including waiting areas, directional signage, service offices, and automated ticketing and payment systems.
Etihad Rail said these features are designed to enhance passenger convenience and improve overall service quality, supporting the development of an integrated and efficient national rail transport system in the UAE.
