Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health (DoH) is introducing a new Abu Dhabi Healthcare Quality Index “Muashir” which categorizes and grades distinguished healthcare facilities that offer services of exceptional quality to Abu Dhabi’s residents.
The first-of-its-kind initiative in the region in its comprehensiveness and quality appraisal, the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Quality Index would be an extension of the DoH’s 2014 “JAWDA” program which assessed the level of the quality of health services provided by the emirate’s healthcare facilities.
The ‘Muashir’ rating system will primarily focus on nine key pillars including;
- Clinical care outcomes
- Healthcare regulations assurance
- Patient happiness
- Patient voice
- Quality assurance certificate
- Staff happiness
- Correct claims
- Safe workplace
- Research and Innovation.
Once the necessary are gathered, Abu Dhabi DoH will classify healthcare facilities on a Diamonds Rating System based mathematical and statistical equations that calculate the performance of hospitals according to several levels and group them into five categories.
The Department will reveal the ‘Muashir’ assessments annually.
- Single Diamond – Good
- Two Diamonds – Very Good
- Three Diamonds – Excellent
- Four Diamonds – Exceptional
- Five Diamonds – Outstanding
“We were able to elevate Abu Dhabi’s position as a leader in quality in medical tourism, in addition to establishing and maintaining the highest quality standards as a method of work and a sustainable basis for all healthcare facilities in the emirate. As we continue to move forward, we will continue delivering excellence, providing high-quality healthcare services, and maintaining our readiness and sustainability for the future, all of which we aspire to achieve through ‘Muashir’.”
DoH is expected to declare the results and the classifications for distinguished healthcare facilities soon. Healthcare facilities can visit the DoH website to know more about the Abu Dhabi Health Services Quality Index.
