The Qatar Chamber has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the uninterrupted flow of supply chains and ensuring the steady availability of goods in the local market.
HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber, stressed that the Chamber is working closely with stakeholders to address challenges facing businesses and to ensure that economic activities continue without disruption.
Continuous monitoring of supply chain developments
In line with these efforts, the Qatar Chamber has formed a dedicated follow-up working team tasked with holding continuous meetings throughout the day to monitor developments affecting supply chains and business operations.
The team is responsible for assessing emerging challenges and coordinating with relevant authorities to resolve issues that could affect the flow of goods or commercial activities.
The Chamber’s sectoral committees have also intensified their engagement with industry representatives, conducting ongoing discussions to evaluate challenges affecting various business sectors. These consultations aim to develop practical solutions that help sustain the smooth functioning of commercial and industrial operations across the country.
Food security discussions
The Food Security and Environment Committee of the Qatar Chamber convened a meeting chaired by Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, a member of the Chamber’s Board and Chairman of the committee. The meeting was attended by committee members and representatives from 34 food companies operating in the local market.
Participants reviewed a range of challenges facing the private sector, particularly those related to supply chains and logistics.
Issues such as shipping costs, customs duties, and the availability of raw materials were among the key topics discussed, along with measures to support national products and local farms.
Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli Board Member
“Under the current circumstances, the Chamber is keen to identify and address the challenges facing food companies and private sector stakeholders. We will continue to convey the concerns and recommendations of business owners to the relevant authorities to reach swift and effective solutions. The private sector plays a critical role during times of crisis, and companies and suppliers remain fully committed to ensuring the availability of essential products and goods in the local market. In this context, a joint committee comprising the Qatar Chamber along with several ministries and government entities has been established to monitor market prices and address any unjustified increases, with the aim of preventing exploitation or price manipulation while safeguarding consumer interests.”
Business owners, traders, and suppliers also called for greater facilitation of land transport, improved logistics services, and enhanced support for domestic agricultural production to strengthen the resilience of supply chains.
