Qatar University & Jordan’s Mutah University ink deal to boost agro sector

Qatar’s leading educational institution, Qatar University (QU) has signed an agreement with Jordan’s Mutah University to improve cooperation in the educational, academic, research, and training in the agricultural field in order to serve the local and Arab community.

As per the statement, “The two parties agreed to cooperate in scientific research in the agricultural field by encouraging faculty members in the two institutions to take sabbatical leave for teaching and scientific research according to the capabilities available to each of them.”

Under the terms of the agreement, they will exchange faculty members and experts as well as hold joint discussion sessions on agreed-upon topics and supervise university theses at the masters and doctoral levels in various programs.

The agreement also supports faculty members and their researchers to collaborate on scientific research projects, exchange scientific research articles and university theses, as well as encourage faculty members to publish the research in their journals.

QU President Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al Derham said that, “QU seeks to conclude partnership and cooperation agreements in other scientific and research fields with Mutah University, and expand scientific cooperation in the field of graduate studies, technologies, cybersecurity, and other important disciplines.”

Dr. Arafat Atwi Awajan, President of Mutah University, noted that Mutah University has great experiences in the field of agricultural production and research related to addressing water scarcity and the quality of agricultural production.

“Mutah University intends to deepen scientific research to solve agricultural problems and the scarcity of water resources to reach agricultural production by relying on automation and benefiting from the 60-year experiences and knowledge in this field,” added Dr. Awajan.
