Qatar University, Kuwait discuss strengthening education cooperation

A delegation from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education has visited Qatar University to discuss strengthening academic cooperation and expanding institutional partnerships in higher education and scientific research.

The delegation was headed by Dr. Bader Hasan Al Busairi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education of the State of Kuwait. The visit aimed to review areas of mutual interest in academic development and support coordination in higher education systems within the Gulf region.

During the visit, Dr. Bader Hasan Al Busairi met with Dr. Omar Mohamed Al Ansari, Qatar University President, along with officials from both sides.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in academic and research fields and reviewing existing and potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions.

Both sides discussed mechanisms to further develop student exchange programs and strengthen support for Kuwaiti students enrolled at Qatar University, particularly in the fields of medicine, health sciences, and engineering.

The discussions also covered opportunities to expand cooperation in scientific research, innovation, and academic expertise sharing.

The two sides reviewed ways to support institutional collaboration between higher education institutions in Kuwait and Qatar, with the objective of improving academic outcomes and strengthening research capacity.

In addition, the meeting included exchanges on enhancing higher education quality and developing joint initiatives in academic and research areas. The countries highlighted the importance of structured cooperation frameworks to support ongoing academic engagement.

Dr. Al Ansari stated that Qatar University maintains its focus on academic and research cooperation with higher education institutions in GCC countries. He noted that such cooperation supports knowledge exchange and contributes to the development of higher education systems in the region.

HE Omar Mohamed Al Ansari added that academic and research cooperation remains an important component of Qatar University’s institutional priorities, with continued efforts to expand partnerships and support joint academic activities.

Dr. Al Busairi emphasized that the discussions focused on strengthening academic relations with Qatar University and reviewing ways to enhance cooperation in higher education.

Dr. Bader Hasan Al Busairi also noted the importance of following up on the needs of Kuwaiti students studying abroad and ensuring appropriate academic support is available.

The visit is part of Qatar University’s ongoing efforts to expand cooperation with regional and international academic institutions in line with its Strategy 2023–2027 and Qatar National Vision 2030, with a focus on higher education development and scientific research.
