SABIC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CEER, Saudi Arabia’s first electric vehicle (EV) brand and original equipment manufacturer, to explore collaboration on advanced materials, local supply chains, and electric vehicle manufacturing in the Kingdom.

The MoU, signed at SABIC’s headquarters in Riyadh, establishes a framework for evaluating the use of SABIC’s advanced materials and solutions in CEER’s electric vehicles, while assessing commercial opportunities and potential long-term collaboration.

Under the agreement, the two companies will explore the joint development of material and processing solutions for EV applications, collaborate on sustainability and technology initiatives, and assess strategic sourcing opportunities to strengthen a local supply chain for Saudi Arabia’s emerging electric vehicle sector.

The MoU also provides a framework to identify additional areas of collaboration. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Faisal M Alfaqeer, SABIC CEO and Executive Board Member, and James DeLuca, CEER CEO.

SABIC stated that its advanced materials and solutions continue to support the global automotive industry’s transition to electric mobility by enabling manufacturers to develop lighter, safer, and more sustainable vehicles.

The company noted that it has supplied advanced materials for electric vehicle manufacturing for decades. It also highlighted its 2022 collaboration with CEER and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program to support vehicle electrification through advanced thermoplastics, engineering expertise, and lightweight solutions that improve safety, performance, and sustainability.
