According to figures from the Ministry of Economy’s National Economic Registry, the total number of business licenses issued across the country in June 2020 totaled 652,885, an increase of 4,201 compared to May 2020.

Following a stable period in March and April, the latest statistics show business and trade continuity in the UAE.

Business license registrations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah together formed 81.2% of the total in UAE. The three emirates recorded 530,165 registrations.

By the end of June, Dubai witnessed 300,000 registrations which are a whopping 46% of the total.

In Abu Dhabi, the licenses issued in June 2020 totaled 145,660, representing 22.3% of the total while in Sharjah, this number was 84,505, representing 13%. The remaining licenses were distributed between Umm Al Qaiwain, Ajman, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.

The statistics also highlight the fact that sole traders accounted for about 41% of the total licenses issued while limited liability companies accounted for 38%, and the rest accounted for other legal forms of business.

The registry is a federal e-platform that is part of the UAE Government Accelerators Initiatives initiated by the Ministry of Economy to adopt the tools of a knowledge-based economy through the provision of reliable, detailed and immediate information.
