UOS signs MoU with AUS to boost academic relationship

The University of Sharjah (UOS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the American University of Sharjah (AUS) to establish a cooperation framework between the two universities and facilitate joint initiatives.

Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and Dr. Tod Laursen, Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah, signed the MoU during a ceremony held at the AUS.

According to the agreement, the two universities will cooperate in exchange programs for students and faculty members to broaden research options and facilitate the transfer of students between the two institutions at the bachelor’s and master’s levels.

The agreement also aims to enhance joint academic endeavors, including supporting cooperative supervision of graduate students, conducting joint research activities, and establishing dual academy programs and short-term specialized programs.

Furthermore, the agreement includes encouraging the two universities to collaborate on research endeavors and grant applications and joint work in e-learning, consultation, curriculum development, and vocational training.

As per the statement, this partnership highlights the two universities’ commitment to promoting academic excellence, research innovation, and cultural understanding inside and outside the UAE.

The MoU also entails organizing joint workshops, conferences, and seminars to enhance academic discourse and facilitate knowledge exchange on a global scale. It also aims to share resources and institutional development between the two universities, which will facilitate the exchange of academic materials, institutional data, and strategic standards to enhance both parties’ quality and abundance of resources.

According to the statement, “To ensure successful implementation of the memorandum’s outcomes, a steering committee will be established to plan and supervise the process. A joint institution will also be formed to support the financing of any joint scientific activities between the two institutions.”
