The University of Sharjah (UoS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Alserkal Group to strengthen collaboration in education, scientific research, and sustainable development, marking a strategic step toward aligning academic output with industry and national priorities in the UAE.
The agreement was formalized by Dr Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs at the University of Sharjah, and Nasser bin Ahmed bin Issa Alserkal, Chief Executive Officer of Envirol and Board Member of Alserkal Group.
Under the terms of the MoU, the two parties will develop joint training programs and provide field-based learning opportunities designed to equip students with practical skills relevant to evolving labor market demands.
The signing underscores both institutions’ commitment to fostering innovation-driven partnerships that contribute to sustainable economic growth. The collaboration will also prioritize applied scientific research, ensuring academic work directly addresses real-world challenges and industry needs.
In addition, the partnership will expand efforts in environmental awareness through Envirol, alongside initiatives that promote student-led innovation and entrepreneurship. Both entities also plan to introduce community-focused artistic and cultural programs, further enriching student engagement and public outreach.
The agreement reflects a broader strategy to bridge the gap between academia and the private sector, enhancing knowledge transfer and supporting the UAE’s national economy through sustainable development, workforce readiness, and cross-sector collaboration.
