Visit Qatar has signed two strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Chinese technology and travel giants Fliggy and Huawei as part of its efforts to attract more visitors from China and enhance the travel experience through advanced artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.
The agreements were signed during an official visit to China led by Visit Qatar CEO Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, underscoring the tourism authority’s focus on strengthening its presence in one of the world’s largest outbound travel markets and accelerating digital innovation across the visitor journey.
Visit Qatar-Fliggy partnership
The first agreement was signed with Fliggy, a leading online travel platform owned by Alibaba Group. The partnership aims to enhance AI-powered travel services, improve destination marketing and provide Chinese travelers with personalized tourism experiences tailored to their preferences.
Under the collaboration, Visit Qatar and Fliggy will launch a ‘Smart Travel Guide to Qatar‘, an AI-driven digital platform designed to simplify travel planning and provide visitors with customized recommendations, destination information and real-time travel support. The partners will also develop bespoke tourism packages to promote Qatar’s attractions, culture, hospitality and events to Chinese travelers.
The initiative represents Fliggy’s first deep AI integration project with an international tourism board, marking a significant milestone in the use of emerging technologies to strengthen destination promotion and visitor engagement.
Visit Qatar-Huawei partnership
Building on this momentum, Visit Qatar signed a second MoU on June 4 with Huawei Mobile Services to further advance the digital travel experience for international visitors.
The agreement will leverage Huawei’s AI and data technologies to provide travelers with seamless trip-planning tools, navigation services and payment solutions throughout their stay in Qatar. The collaboration will utilize Huawei’s digital ecosystem, including platforms such as Petal Maps, to improve accessibility, convenience and travel efficiency for visitors.

The partnership also expands an existing relationship between the two organizations. Visit Qatar previously became the first international tourism board to launch services on Huawei’s HarmonyOS, a milestone that strengthened its digital reach among Huawei users and enhanced access to tourism information across the company’s ecosystem.
The latest agreements reflect Visit Qatar’s broader strategy to harness advanced technologies and digital platforms to elevate the visitor experience, increase international tourism arrivals and strengthen Qatar’s position as a leading global travel destination.
Together, the partnerships with Fliggy and Huawei highlight Visit Qatar’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge AI-driven solutions to deliver innovative, seamless and personalized experiences for travelers while deepening engagement with the strategically important Chinese market.
