World’s largest video streaming platform YouTube has rolled out hashtags landing pages, which display videos with various unique hashtags.

Although social media sites such as Instagram and Twitter have used hashtags extensively over the years, YouTube has just started to make use of this popular feature. The American platform posted on its Google support page that, this new feature will allow users to discover videos through hashtags, either by clicking on a hashtag on YouTube or by typing a hashtag link directly.

According to the reports, the use of hashtags on YouTube will change in a way that will help users discover videos by grouping content together.

Clicking on a YouTube hashtag so far will show videos that use the same hashtag combined with a lot of related content. But with the new update, clicking on a hashtag will take the user to a dedicated page that only has videos that use the specific hashtag. The hashtags are found at the bottom of a video description.

Google has stated that it will sort the dedicated page in such a way that the best videos of hashtags appear on the top. But according to several reports, it is difficult to assess what Google means by “best videos”, as while clicking on #gaming, the results showed videos that were not at least arranged by the maximum number of views. However, the hashtag landing pages show more specific results for videos compared to just searching for the phrase.

The latest hashtag landing pages will be accessible through both the YouTube apps on Android and iOS and its desktop version. And, the new update will be available in the coming days.
