The Bahrain Ministry of Health has upgraded its electronic healthcare authorization service, enabling authorized representatives to obtain digital approvals from commercial registration owners through an integrated online system.
The enhanced service forms part of ongoing government efforts to improve the quality of public services, simplify procedures, and support the digital transformation of government operations.
Under the new system, authorized representatives can submit transaction requests and obtain required healthcare-related services on behalf of commercial registration owners through a fully digital process.
The ministry said that the enhancement is intended to streamline procedures, improve transaction efficiency, and provide beneficiaries with a more integrated digital experience.
As part of the service development, processing times have been reduced from 10 working days to an immediate automated procedure through the full digital transformation of the service.
The number of application steps has also been reduced to three, while the requirement to submit documents to the service provider has been removed.
In addition, the ministry reduced the number of approvals required by at least 25 percent, helping to simplify the application process and reduce administrative requirements for users.
The Ministry of Health has also introduced a number of improvements to the systems supporting the service, including enhancements to the user interface and overall user experience.
Service information has been standardized and unified across multiple channels to improve accessibility and ensure that beneficiaries can access consistent and accurate information regardless of the platform used.
According to the ministry, these enhancements are intended to improve service delivery and make transactions easier and more efficient for users.
Dr. Lulwa Rashid Showaiter, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, remarked that the service forms part of the ministry’s efforts to adopt digital solutions that improve the efficiency of government services and support the delivery of services through modern digital platforms.
The initiative improves operational performance, simplifies procedures, strengthens the business environment, and supports the government’s broader digital transformation objectives while enhancing transparency and reliability in service delivery.
Dr. Showaiter added that the launch of the enhanced service reflects the ministry’s commitment to continuously developing its services in a way that reduces the time and effort required from commercial registration owners and authorized representatives.
The enhancement of the authorization service is part of wider government efforts to review, develop, and re-engineer services across multiple sectors.
According to the ministry, more than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published as part of these efforts.
In addition, around 800 government services are currently undergoing development and re-engineering across different government entities.
The service development program is based on proposals and feedback received through the National System for Suggestions and Complaints, Tawasul, as well as investor feedback and secret shopper reports used to evaluate government services.
The program also includes the preparation of guidance manuals and service level agreements aimed at improving service standards and providing greater clarity for beneficiaries.
