Qatar and Saudi Arabia have conducted a virtual meeting to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade and logistics, with a focus on trade facilitation, customs procedures, and logistics services.

The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, and Dr. Rumaih Al Rumaih, Saudi Arabia’s Vice Minister of Transport and Logistics Services.

The Qatari delegation included Ahmed Al Jamal, Chairman of the General Authority of Customs, and Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Maadeed, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport.

The Saudi delegation comprised Mohammed Al Abduljabbar, Governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, and Musa Al Barqi, Deputy Minister for Logistics Services, along with senior officials from both sides.

During the discussions, the two countries reviewed opportunities to enhance cooperation in trade and logistics as part of their ongoing economic engagement.

The meeting focused on improving the movement of goods between the two countries by facilitating trade flows, simplifying customs procedures, and increasing the efficiency of logistics services.

Officials also discussed measures to support cross-border trade and improving coordination between the relevant authorities. Discussions also focused on ways to streamline customs processes and strengthen logistics operations to facilitate commercial activities and support businesses engaged in bilateral trade.

The meeting also addressed efforts to increase the volume of trade between Qatar and Saudi Arabia through closer cooperation in areas related to transport, customs, and logistics. It also highlighted the role of efficient logistics services and trade facilitation in supporting commercial exchange and improving supply chain operations.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in key sectors to support bilateral economic relations and advance their shared economic goals.
