Bahrain’s Ministry of Municipalities Affairs & Agriculture and the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) Bahrain have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to implement specialized training programs for agricultural entrepreneurs aimed at supporting sustainable agriculture and strengthening food security in Bahrain.

The agreement, signed between the ministry’s Agriculture and Animal Wealth Affairs sector and NIAD, also establishes a framework to train members of society in modern agricultural techniques to help them establish and manage agricultural projects that contribute to the national economy.

Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak stated that the MoU reflects ongoing cooperation to develop Bahrain’s agricultural sector in line with the vision of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to support entrepreneurs entering agricultural investment projects.

Al Mubarak said that the ministry is focused on strengthening national partnerships and improving the capabilities of Bahraini professionals through specialized training programs aligned with modern agriculture and food production trends.

The minister also highlighted the support provided to the agricultural sector by Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa through programs dedicated to farmers. He said investment in human capital remains a key pillar of sustainable agricultural development and added that supporting entrepreneurs in launching innovative agricultural projects contributes to food security and creates quality economic opportunities.

Al Mubarak added that the ministry’s partnership with NIAD recently received the Arab Government Excellence Award 2025 in the special recognition category for the National Programme for Empowering Communities through Agricultural Training project, reflecting Bahrain’s efforts to support farmers and agricultural development.

Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa said that the agricultural sector continues to receive strong support from King Hamad and directives from the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, alongside continued backing from Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim.
