Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has partnered with the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) Abu Dhabi to offer complimentary medical travel insurance to international visitors arriving in Abu Dhabi on Etihad-operated flights.

The initiative, in collaboration with The National Insurance Company – Daman, part of PureHealth, will run from July to December 2026 and provides eligible travelers with medical coverage for up to 15 days in the UAE.

The insurance is automatically included with qualifying Etihad tickets, requiring no application. It applies to international passengers flying to Abu Dhabi on Etihad-operated services where both point of origin and point of sale are outside the UAE. Travelers using Etihad’s Stopover Program are also covered for the duration of their stay, subject to terms and conditions.

The move is designed to enhance Abu Dhabi’s visitor experience and strengthen demand for the emirate as a global tourism destination, offering travelers added protection from the moment they book.

The partnership underscores a shared commitment by Etihad and DCT Abu Dhabi to enhance the visitor experience by integrating insurance coverage directly into the travel journey, reducing administrative steps for travelers and ensuring support from the moment they board.

Abu Dhabi continues to position itself as a global tourism hub, offering a blend of Emirati heritage and modern attractions, including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Saadiyat Island, and Yas Island. With complimentary medical coverage now included for eligible Etihad passengers, officials say the initiative strengthens the emirate’s appeal for both short stays and extended visits.

Giving comprehensive medical insurance with every eligible Etihad ticket means our guests can focus entirely on experiencing the extraordinary Emirati hospitality Abu Dhabi has to offer. This is what it looks like when an airline and a destination truly invest in their visitors.”

Khaled Ateeq Aldhaheri, Chief Executive Officer of The National Insurance Company – Daman, said that, “Protecting people’s health and wellbeing is central to Daman’s role as the UAE’s leading health insurer. This initiative adds meaningful value to the visitor experience by integrating reliable medical insurance directly into the travel journey.”
