These days, it’s more vital than ever to look good and keep fit. We keep track of our calorie intake and everything, but there are a few things you should keep in mind.

We develop a variety of post-meal habits over time. What we don’t realize is that these seemingly harmless actions can disrupt the nutritional balance of our meals. These habits hamper your body’s ability to absorb nutrients.

There is probably a slew of things that you might have heard not to do after a meal.

After a meal, many of us prefer to drink tea or coffee. It turns out that it is harmful to our health. It acts as an enemy to your iron intake and stops you from absorbing it. Hence, they should only be ingested an hour after a meal.

Eating fruits

Fresh fruits are the healthiest of all foods. When you eat it after a meal, however, it reduces absorption, causing digestive issues and changing the nutritional value of the food you’re eating.

Workout time

When you have just eaten and decide to go to the gym or perform any type of workout, you are setting yourself up for the discomfort. Our body is designed in a specific way, and there is a time for everything. Post-meal exercise causes sluggishness and stomach discomfort.

Taking shower

A nice shower always brightens our day. But bathing after a meal delays digestion. During a shower, the blood around the stomach moves to other parts of the body rather than helping digestion.

Sleeping

Nap

If you enjoy your post-meal naps, it’s time to say goodbye because, according to experts, it’s a harmful habit. When you sleep after a meal, the digestive juices produced by your stomach rise to the surface and cause heartburn. The entire digestive process is harmed.

Drinking a glass of water

Water plays an important role in our life. When you drink water right after your meals, it decreases the release of enzymes and juices in the stomach. It can produce bloating and acidity, making digestion more difficult.
