The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has launched a new shipping service, AR2 ASIA REDSEA, operated by WAN HAI LINES, at Jeddah Islamic Port.

The AR2 ASIA REDSEA service will connect Jeddah Islamic Port to ten strategic ports across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. These include Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, and Shekou in China; Port Klang in Malaysia; Aqaba in Jordan; Sokhna and Alexandria in Egypt; and Izmit and Kumport in Turkey. The new route has a total handling capacity of 3,700 twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs).

The move to add AR2 ASIA REDSEA aligns with the broader goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to transform the Kingdom into a leading global logistics hub. It further calls to strengthen the position of Saudi Arabia on global maritime map, improving trade flow, and enhancing operational efficiency.

This addition of AR2 ASIA REDSEA contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of Saudi ports on the global maritime transport map, supporting the smooth flow of trade, expanding commercial opportunities, and boosting operational efficiency.

Jeddah Islamic Port is the largest port on the Red Sea coast, majorly due to its strategic location and 62 multipurpose berths, the port holds a central position both regionally and globally, playing a pivotal role in advancing the Kingdom’s leadership in the maritime sector.

It includes a logistics service area for storage and re-export, multiple specialized terminals, two general cargo terminals, two ship repair docks, and various berths for marine services. The total handling capacity of the Jeddah Islamic Port reaches 130 million tons.

The announcement of AR2 ASIA REDSEA addition marks another milestone in the Kingdom’s drive to diversify its economy, modernize logistics infrastructure, and support Vision 2030 goals by attracting global shipping lines and fostering international trade growth.
