The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Kazakhstan have explored new avenues for enhancing bilateral economic and investment cooperation during high-level talks held in Muscat on Tuesday, as both countries seek to deepen strategic partnerships and promote sustainable economic growth.
Abdulsalam Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), has met with Nurlan Zhakupov, Chief Executive Officer of Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund ‘Samruk-Kazyna’, who is currently visiting Oman, to discuss opportunities for joint investment and long-term economic collaboration.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed existing investment capabilities and examined a range of potential investment opportunities across sectors of mutual interest. Discussions focused on strengthening economic ties through co-investment in promising projects and established enterprises in line with the strategic development priorities of both Oman and Kazakhstan.
Officials from both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding partnership frameworks and identifying new areas of cooperation that would contribute to the economic interests of the two countries. The talks also highlighted the importance of fostering stronger institutional collaboration between the Oman Investment Authority and Samruk-Kazyna to facilitate future investment initiatives.
The meeting underscored the growing importance of sovereign wealth funds in driving cross-border investments and supporting economic diversification efforts. Oman has been actively pursuing international partnerships to attract foreign investment and accelerate the implementation of its economic diversification plans under Oman Vision 2040, while Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its regional and international investment footprint.
Both parties emphasized the need for continued dialogue and coordination to unlock broader economic opportunities and enhance investment flows between the two nations. They noted that closer cooperation is expected to support sustainable development objectives, encourage innovation, and increase local value addition within both economies.
The discussions come amid increasing efforts by Oman and Kazakhstan to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new economic partnerships across strategic sectors, reflecting a shared commitment to long-term economic resilience and sustainable growth.
