The OQ Basic Industries and Oman Oil Marketing Company have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in alternative and sustainable energy solutions.

The agreement establishes a framework for both companies to jointly explore, evaluate, and develop opportunities related to clean energy technologies and operational efficiency solutions aligned with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Under the memorandum, the two companies will assess opportunities in solar energy solutions, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and the use of biofuels as alternative fuel options for OQ Basic Industries’ vehicle fleet.

The partnership will also explore the potential blending of methanol with vehicle fuel as a future sustainability initiative.

The agreement further allows both sides to examine additional initiatives in the fields of alternative energy and sustainability based on mutually agreed priorities and future market requirements.

As part of the collaboration, OQ Basic Industries and Oman Oil Marketing Company will conduct technical discussions, commercial evaluations, and joint feasibility studies while exchanging information within agreed frameworks.

The companies will also identify potential pilot projects aimed at accelerating innovation and supporting cleaner energy adoption across industrial and mobility sectors.

The partnership combines the industrial production capabilities of OQ Basic Industries, which operates in the manufacturing of liquefied petroleum gas, methanol, and ammonia, with Oman Oil Marketing Company’s expertise in fuel marketing, lubricants, and direct fuel distribution.

Tariq bin Mohammed Al Junaidi, CEO of Oman Oil Marketing Company, stated that, “This memorandum represents an important step in Oman Oil Marketing Company’s journey toward supporting future and sustainable energy solutions. Through our cooperation with OQ Basic Industries, we aim to explore practical opportunities in alternative energy, electric vehicle charging, and cleaner fuel solutions that support innovation, enhance operational efficiency, and reinforce our commitment to contributing to the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.”

Engineer Khalid bin Khalfan Al-Asmi, CEO of OQ Basic Industries, noted that the agreement represents an important step toward expanding cooperation in sustainable energy solutions and supporting the ongoing transformation of the energy sector.

Al-Asmi added that the collaboration aligns with both companies’ commitment to supporting energy diversification, advancing sustainability targets, and accelerating the adoption of innovative solutions that contribute to Oman’s long-term economic and environmental objectives.
