Qatar, Sweden ink deal for Qatari-Swedish Joint Business Council

The Qatar Chamber has welcomed a high-level business delegation from the Kingdom of Sweden led by HE Benjamin Dousa, the Swedish Minister of International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, during which an agreement was signed to establish the Qatari-Swedish Joint Business Council.

HE Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, HE Benjamin Dousa, and HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani witnessed the signing of an agreement to establish the Qatari-Swedish Joint Business Council. The agreement was signed by HE Qatar Chamber’s Board Member Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misnad, and Vice President of the Business Sweden Sara Radu.

The joint business meeting held at the Chamber Headquarters was attended by HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Sayed, and HE Chairman of Qatar Chamber Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al- Thani. The delegation included heads and representatives of more than 40 Swedish companies operating across various economic sectors.

The discussions focused on cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the commercial and economic fields. They also addressed the investment climate and opportunities available in both countries, as well as the role of the private sector in stimulating mutual and joint investments and enhancing trade exchange.

HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani underscored the Chamber’s interest in developing cooperating, exchanging expertise and expanding investment opportunities available in both sides. He highlighted the strong growth of Qatari-Swedish relations in technology, innovation, renewable energy, and healthcare, emphasizing the Qatari private sector’s commitment to deeper cooperation through joint ventures and knowledge exchange to advance sustainable economic development in both countries.

Sheikh Khalifa emphasized that the signing of the Qatari-Swedish Joint Business Council marks a pivotal step in enhancing cooperation, affirming that the Council will serve as a platform to bring together business leaders and companies from both nations, facilitate joint investments, and boost bilateral trade exchanges.

The Chairman further stated that Qatar is steadily advancing toward building a sustainable, knowledge-based economy, offering significant opportunities for Swedish companies to establish investments and forge strategic partnerships in the country.

HE Dousa praised Qatar’s significant progress, stressing that the business forum reflects both nations’ commitment to expanding cooperation and exploring new opportunities. He welcomed the agreement to establish the Qatari-Swedish Joint Business Council, noting it will boost private sector collaboration, attract investments, and support sustainable growth.

The Swedish Minister highlighted the increasing role of Swedish companies in Qatar, especially in health, digitalization, and technology, and underscored the alignment between Sweden’s vision and Qatar National Vision 2030 as a basis for deeper trade and joint ventures. He also encouraged Qatari firms to invest in Swedish innovation as part of Qatari-Swedish Joint Business Council, pointing out Sweden’s global leadership in technology and innovation.

The business meet to form Qatari-Swedish Joint Business Council included presentations from both sides, featuring Invest Qatar, the Qatar Free Zones Authority, and Mwani Qatar, alongside leading Swedish companies. These presentations outlined investment opportunities and incentives, fostering greater cooperation and potential partnerships between the business communities of both countries.
