The Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced the launch of the first official public profile for a tourism board on a popular social media platform Snapchat, enabling foreign tourists a unique and immersive way to experience everything the UAE capital has to offer.

The ‘Visit Abu Dhabi’ public profile will act as a portal to unlock everything the region showcases, providing subscribers with exclusive travel information for Abu Dhabi, showcasing the wide variety of things to do during a stay in the emirate, and bringing the destination’s beauty to life in a new interactive way.

The new official public profile is perfect for individuals planning an upcoming vacation to Abu Dhabi as it offers a peek of the destination from the comfort of their own homes and phones at a time when tourism is steadily opening up.

The platform offers support in 11 languages including English, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Russian, Brazilian, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese and Chinese with extensive, up-to-date online and offline information on all there is to see and do in Abu Dhabi.

Moreover, it includes a ‘Near Me’ functionality showing everything within easy reach. The traveler can also find an interactive easy to navigate map that includes all points of interest, hotels, restaurants, spas, events, hospitals, mosques, petrol stations and bus stops in Abu Dhabi.

Snapchat’s Public Profiles were introduced in 2020 and have been a huge success in bringing a brand’s ideas to life. The decision by DCT Abu Dhabi marks the first official tourist board profile, and other tourist boards are likely to follow suit as they try to entice visitors back.

Social media has become a popular vehicle for engaging future travelers and sparking wanderlust by making global places available to everyone.

Travelers could use the platform to plan vacations, make informed travel decisions, and share their own experiences with a certain hotel, restaurant, or airline.

The new format will allow the destination to convey its story to the next generation of travelers, reaching out to a new population eager to experience the spectacular views, culture, entertainment, and adventure that a journey to Abu Dhabi brings.
