Dubai will host the 12th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) on October 21-22, 2026, at the Dubai World Trade Centre to discuss green economy and low-carbon transition solutions.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the summit will be organized by the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The event will be held under the theme, “From Success to Scale: Showcasing the Green Economy.”

The summit will bring together decision-makers, business executives, investors, and infrastructure and resilience experts, as well as representatives from governments, the private sector, and academic institutions.

Discussions will focus on practical and scalable solutions that support economic growth while advancing environmental sustainability.

Focus on green economy transition

WGES 2026 will examine policies, technologies, and investment strategies that support the transition to a low-carbon economy and facilitate the wider adoption of climate solutions across sectors.

The program will focus on expanding proven green economy initiatives and promoting their adoption across sectors and markets.

The event explores ways to strengthen the relationship between economic development and environmental sustainability.

The summit will provide a platform for dialogue among governments, businesses, financial institutions, and international organizations on the practical steps required to advance climate and sustainability objectives.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA, and Chairman of WGEO, said that the World Green Economy Summit has become an international platform for dialogue on climate action and cooperation in support of the transition to a sustainable green economy.

Al Tayer added that WGES 2026 will focus on accelerating the adoption of climate solutions and expanding successful models that support economic growth while strengthening resilience across multiple sectors.

According to Al Tayer, the summit will also emphasize the importance of moving beyond presenting successful projects to expanding their implementation and increasing their impact through broader adoption.

Four key pillars to guide discussions

WGES 2026 will focus on four main thematic pillars:

  • Energy technology and infrastructure
  • Business strategy and transition
  • Water and food security
  • Finance

The summit will also examine three cross-cutting themes, including the role of artificial intelligence in supporting climate projects and enabling the green economy.

Additional discussions will cover governance as a key element in implementing climate policies and sustainability strategies, as well as system enablers such as supply chains and the circular economy.

These topics have been included to reflect current developments in the global green economy and the evolving priorities of governments and businesses.

The summit will also present examples of green economy initiatives that are being implemented across clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, green finance, water management, and food security.
