Emirates SkyCargo has expanded its global freighter network with a new weekly service to Toronto Pearson Airport, strengthening trade and air cargo links between Canada and the UAE.
The new EK9943 flight departs Dubai World Central (DWC) at 07:10 local time on Fridays, stops at Amsterdam (AMS) at 12:15, and continues to Toronto, arriving at 16:55 local time. The return flight, EK9944, leaves Toronto at 19:15 on Fridays, arriving back in Dubai at 16:15 on Saturdays.
The service is designed to boost exports of pharmaceuticals, fresh produce, electronics, and other general cargo, supporting Canada’s high-value and time- and temperature-sensitive export sectors to Dubai and Emirates’ wider network. Between Amsterdam and Toronto, the freighter also facilitates movement of EU pharmaceuticals, perishables, and manufactured goods to Canada.
Leveraging a suite of specialized transportation solutions, Emirates SkyCargo ensures swift and efficient cargo transport, enabling customers to build more agile supply chains, the airline stated.
Emirates SkyCargo has played a key role in Canada-UAE trade since Emirates began passenger flights to Toronto in 2007. Since 2023, the carrier has transported over 11,000 tons of Canadian exports. The new freighter service supplements bellyhold cargo capacity on passenger flights between Dubai and Toronto, underlining Emirates’ long-term commitment to the Canadian market. In July 2023, Emirates SkyCargo also began offering cargo capacity on flights to and from Montreal.
Globally, Emirates SkyCargo operates across six continents with dedicated freighters and cargo space on Emirates’ fleet of over 270 aircraft. The airline has recently added four Boeing 777 freighters since March 2026 and plans to expand with six more by the end of the year.
Badr Abbas Divisional Senior Vice President – Emirates SkyCargo
“Our freighter service to Toronto is an important milestone for Emirates SkyCargo as we continue to strategically expand our freighter fleet and network in line with evolving trade corridors. Exports from Canada to the UAE have been growing steadily in recent years, increasing 24 percent year on year between 2023 and 2024 facilitated by direct air connectivity and strong bilateral trade relations. Our weekly freighter to Toronto further amplifies this positive momentum, providing Canadian businesses with an additional 100 tons of export capacity every week over and above belly hold cargo capacity on Emirates passenger flights.
“Additionally, the flight will also provide important connectivity between Canada and one of its largest trading partners, the EU, on the inbound segment with a stop at Amsterdam,” Badr Abbas added.
Kurush Minocher, Chief Commercial Officer, Toronto Pearson, said that, “The launch of Emirates’ freighter service to Toronto Pearson is a significant milestone for our airport. As Canada’s largest air cargo hub, handling approximately 45 percent of the country’s total, we play a critical role in fueling the economy by connecting Canadian businesses to global markets. This new service provides shippers with direct, reliable access to one of the world’s most expansive cargo networks and reflects continued confidence in Toronto Pearson as a strategic gateway for global trade.”
