Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has launched an advanced amyloid brain PET-CT imaging service, marking the first availability of this technology in Qatar.

The service is being delivered through the nuclear medicine and molecular imaging section of the Clinical Imaging Department, reinforcing HMC’s focus on cutting-edge diagnostic capabilities.

The introduction of amyloid PET-CT imaging represents a significant step forward in the early detection and diagnosis of neurodegenerative conditions, particularly Alzheimer’s disease.

The technology enables non-invasive identification of beta-amyloid deposits in the brain, one of the key pathological markers associated with Alzheimer’s, allowing clinicians to distinguish it more accurately from other forms of dementia.

Medical experts highlight that early and precise diagnosis is critical in managing neurodegenerative diseases.

Amyloid imaging provides clinicians with detailed insights that support more informed clinical decisions, especially in complex or diagnostically uncertain cases.

By differentiating Alzheimer’s disease from other cognitive disorders, the technology helps guide appropriate treatment strategies and patient management plans.

The availability of this service is expected to improve patient outcomes by enabling earlier intervention and more personalized care pathways, aligning with broader global trends in precision medicine.

HMC noted that the launch is the result of close collaboration between its nuclear medicine and molecular imaging specialists and the Geriatric Memory Clinic at Rumailah Hospital.

This integrated approach ensures a comprehensive, patient-centered model of care, combining advanced imaging with specialized clinical expertise in geriatric medicine and cognitive disorders.

The rollout of amyloid PET-CT imaging underscores HMC’s commitment to innovation, quality, and safety in healthcare delivery.

It also supports Qatar’s national healthcare priorities, particularly in expanding specialized services and enhancing early detection capabilities for chronic and age-related conditions.
