Mubadala Investment Company and Tubacex Group have launched TBX Nexxia in Abu Dhabi, a joint venture manufacturing platform for advanced Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) solutions.

The announcement was made during Make it in the Emirates 2026 at Mubadala’s exhibition stand, highlighting the UAE’s continued focus on strengthening domestic industrial capabilities and supporting long-term energy sector development.

Operating under the TBX Nexxia brand, the Abu Dhabi facility is now fully operational and represents the first manufacturing platform in the Middle East dedicated to corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) OCTG products used in complex energy infrastructure.

Located in ICAD Abu Dhabi, the facility is designed to bring advanced manufacturing closer to regional demand, improving supply chain reliability and reducing lead times for critical energy projects.

It is integrated with Tubacex operations in Spain and Brazil, forming an end-to-end global production network covering design, manufacturing, finishing, threading, and technical support.

The project builds on a 2024 strategic partnership between Mubadala and Tubacex, which included a $200 million investment to establish an Abu Dhabi-based industrial platform aligned with the UAE’s long-term industrial development priorities.

The facility has been developed with support from ADNOC as a key customer, securing a long-term supply of CRA tubular products for gas extraction and production activities in Abu Dhabi.

Strengthening industrial resilience

The companies noted that the platform supports efforts to localize critical manufacturing capabilities, reduce dependency on external supply chains, and improve responsiveness to regional energy sector requirements.

It is also expected to enhance operational continuity for major energy infrastructure projects through locally produced, high-performance tubular solutions designed for corrosive environments.

Beyond manufacturing output, TBX Nexxia is expected to contribute to skills development and knowledge transfer in advanced industrial processes.

This includes training in metallurgical engineering, quality systems, and traceability standards required for energy sector applications.

The platform has an annual production capacity of 20,000 tonnes of CRA OCTG and is expected to support regional energy infrastructure demand over the long term.

Dr. Bakheet Al Katheeri, CEO of Mubadala’s UAE Investments platform, said that, “This project reflects Mubadala’s long-term commitment to building strategic industries that strengthen national resilience and economic competitiveness. By localizing advanced manufacturing capabilities in Abu Dhabi, we are helping create a stronger industrial base that supports energy security, develops technical expertise, and enables long-term value creation for the country.”

“TBX Nexxia brings together our CRA OCTG value proposition under a single identity, delivered through an end-to-end industrial platform. With Abu Dhabi as the regional anchor and integrated industrial capabilities across Spain and Brazil, we are positioned to support customers with reliability, traceability, and technical proximity across the full lifecycle of critical energy projects.”

Omar Abdulla Alnuaimi, Acting Group Chief Commercial and ICV Officer at ADNOC, highlighted that, “We welcome the launch of TBX Nexxia, which marks an important milestone in localizing advanced piping solutions and strengthening the resilience of the UAE’s energy supply chains. This achievement reflects how ADNOC’s In-Country Value program continues to drive domestic manufacturing, accelerate industrial growth, and create long-term value for the UAE.”
