LuLu Group International Chairman M.A. Yusuffali has met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi to brief him on initiatives ensuring uninterrupted food supplies from India to the GCC.

The discussions highlighted coordinated efforts between government and private sector stakeholders to safeguard food security and maintain stable supply chains across the Gulf region.

The meeting focused on sustaining the steady availability of essential commodities across GCC countries, where a large segment of the population, comprising expatriates and local residents, depends significantly on Indian-origin food products.

The briefing pointed out the importance of maintaining price stability and preventing disruptions in supply amid evolving geopolitical and economic challenges.

During the discussions, Yusuffali outlined the group’s extensive initiatives to strengthen food security across its Gulf markets. To date, LuLu has facilitated the import of approximately 15,000 tons of food products from India, covering both perishable and non-perishable categories.

These shipments have been enabled through a diversified logistics strategy that includes chartered flights, cargo vessels, and regular maritime services. Notably, 34 dedicated chartered flights have already been deployed to transport essential goods, with further operations planned in the coming weeks to meet sustained demand.

The efforts are supported by LuLu’s sourcing and export infrastructure across multiple Indian states, where production and logistics hubs are operating at elevated capacity to ensure uninterrupted supply to international markets.

India’s position as a key trade partner for GCC nations remains particularly critical in the food and agriculture sector. The continuity of exports not only meets consumer demand in the Gulf but also supports India’s domestic agricultural ecosystem.

By maintaining stable export channels, farmers, producers, and exporters are able to efficiently move goods to overseas markets, reducing losses and sustaining livelihoods during uncertain times.

Prime Minister Modi commented on LuLu Group’s efforts and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating seamless exports. Modi emphasized the importance of strengthening logistics frameworks and removing bottlenecks to ensure uninterrupted supply flows to GCC countries.

Yusuffali also highlighted the proactive measures taken by GCC authorities to safeguard residents, including the large Indian diaspora, noting their role in ensuring safety, stability, and access to essential services.
