Salalah Airport has retained its five-star rating from Skytrax World Airports for the second consecutive time, reinforcing its position among leading regional and international airports offering high-standard passenger services.

The rating reflects continued development across operational performance, passenger experience, and infrastructure at the airport.

It also highlights the broader progress of Oman Airports in enhancing service quality in line with international aviation standards.

Operational and service enhancements

Oman Airports has implemented a series of development initiatives at Salalah Airport aimed at improving efficiency and passenger comfort.

These include upgrades to operational processes, service facilities, and customer experience systems designed to support increasing tourism and air traffic in Dhofar Governorate.

The airport’s improved performance has contributed to its ability to manage seasonal travel demand, particularly during peak tourism periods in the region.

Infrastructure and passenger experience

Recent enhancements at Salalah Airport include the opening of the ‘Majan’ lounge, which expanded premium hospitality services and added new facilities for passengers.

The airport has also upgraded its family and children’s entertainment areas, aimed at improving the travel experience for passengers of different age groups and enhancing comfort during waiting periods.

In addition, commercial offerings at the airport have been expanded with the introduction of emerging Omani brands, supporting local businesses while diversifying retail options for travelers.

Operational efficiency and growth strategy

Further improvements have been made in airport facilities and operational systems to streamline passenger procedures and enhance overall service efficiency.

These developments are part of ongoing efforts to align the airport’s capabilities with rising passenger volumes and tourism growth in Dhofar.

Salalah Airport continues to prepare for increased passenger traffic during the Dhofar Khareef (monsoon) season, with enhanced operational readiness, expanded flight connectivity, and coordination with international carriers.

These measures aim to support the growth of tourism in the region and reinforce Salalah’s position as a key gateway for visitors to southern Oman.

Nasser bin Ahmed Al Sharji, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Oman Airports, said that the renewed five-star rating reflects the organization’s commitment to delivering a high-quality travel experience based on service excellence, innovation, and passenger satisfaction.

Al Sharji noted that continuous investment in infrastructure and services has supported the airport’s ability to meet growing demand and strengthen Oman’s aviation sector competitiveness.

Zakaria bin Yaqoub Al-Harasi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Salalah Airport, remarked that the achievement reflects sustained efforts to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

Al-Harasi added that the rating reflects strong coordination among airport stakeholders and contributes to reinforcing Salalah Airport’s position as a leading regional aviation hub.

The five-star rating awarded by Skytrax is among the highest global distinctions in the airport industry, recognizing excellence in service quality, operational efficiency, infrastructure, and passenger experience.
