The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held a consultative summit to address the ongoing regional crisis sparked by the US-Israel conflict with Iran.

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman chaired the GCC Consultative Summit in Jeddah, bringing together leaders and heads of delegation from the Gulf member states.

According to the reports, the summit discussed several topics and issues related to the current regional and international developments, along with the coordination of efforts to address them, in light of the regional tensions.

Furthermore, the summit examined ongoing diplomatic efforts, most notably Pakistani mediation between the United States and Iran, aimed at defusing the crisis and opening negotiating channels that would contribute to de-escalation.

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi stated that the leaders of the GCC States expressed their categorical rejection of the illegal Iranian measures to close the Strait of Hormuz, obstruct navigation, and threaten its security, as well as any actions that could negatively affect navigation therein, including the imposition of fees under any circumstances or pretext for the passage of ships.

They stressed the need to restore the security and freedom of navigation and to return conditions in the Strait to what they were before 28 February 2026. Also, they commended the ability demonstrated by GCC nations in dealing with the challenges they faced as a result of this crisis.

The Secretary General further explained that the Gulf leaders pointed to the importance of the electricity interconnection project among the Council states, in addition to expediting the start of steps towards establishing a pipeline project for the transport of oil and gas, as well as the water interconnection project among the GCC states, and moving forward with studying the establishment of areas for the GCC strategic reserve.
