The UAE Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Drug Establishment, HE Saeed bin Mubarak Al Hajeri, has affirmed that the pharmaceutical sector in the UAE is operating with a high degree of stability and preparedness, stressing that the country’s strategic stockpile of medicines and medical supplies is secure and sufficient to meet the needs of the local market.
Al Hajeri emphasized the UAE has implemented best-in-class policies to maintain a strategic reserve that guarantees the long-term availability of essential medicines for citizens, residents and visitors.
The minister stressed that pharmaceutical security is a national priority, backed by a comprehensive strategy to ensure the sustainable availability, quality and safety of medicines at all times. He added that the Emirates Drug Establishment adopts a proactive, risk-based approach with robust emergency planning to strengthen preparedness and reinforce public confidence in the country’s pharmaceutical system.
Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Director-General of the Emirates Drug Establishment, said the sector maintains high stability and readiness, ensuring the continuous supply of medicines and medical products to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Al Kaabi noted that the Emirates Drug Establishment conducts daily field monitoring and tracks medicine movement and stock levels across factories, warehouses and storage facilities through integrated systems with strategic partners. This approach ensures uninterrupted access to essential medicines, prevents shortages of key products and keeps pharmaceutical supply chains operating normally across the United Arab Emirates.
Al Kaabi assured that availability indicators remain stable and reassuring, supported by forward planning and close coordination with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, relevant authorities and the private sector. Pharmaceutical security is a core pillar of healthcare in the UAE, with a forward-looking strategy in place to guarantee sustainable medicine supplies and sector-wide preparedness under all scenarios, Al Kaabi added.
