Kuwait has reopened its airspace at Kuwait International Airport and the gradual resumption of flight operations following a ‘temporary and precautionary’ suspension of air traffic that had been in place since February 28 due to regional developments.
Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, President of Civil Aviation, pointed out that technical teams have begun maintenance and repair work on facilities and operational equipment damaged as a result of Iranian attacks and actions by affiliated factions. He affirmed that the airport is ready to resume operations.
Al-Sabah further noted that flight operations are being restored in coordination with international authorities to ensure compliance with the highest safety and security standards. The reopening is being implemented under a phased plan aimed at the gradual normalization of air traffic.
Meanwhile, Kuwait Airways confirmed the exceptional and limited resumption of its operational flights from Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 4 (T4), in line with safety procedures, effective Sunday, April 26.
The airline said operations will be continuously reviewed, emphasizing that the situation will be monitored and assessed on an ongoing basis. It added that all flights will continue to adhere to exceptional safety measures until further notice.
Al-Sabah also expressed appreciation to Saudi Arabia for its support and cooperation in facilitating the operation of Kuwaiti carriers through its airports during the suspension period. He further praised the support of Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the joint coordination on unified airspace. He commended the role of Kuwait’s political leadership in mitigating the impact of the crisis and expediting the efficient reopening of the airport.
